MOSAICA is first of all a technological platform that supports the creation of Semantic Portals to Cultural Heritage. 

MOSAICA has been designed as an Intelligent Desktop.
Why “desktop”? - MOSAICA features folders that you can browse. Folders contain files: files can be music clips, photos, videos… You can navigate using the command buttons… - Or by clicking on one of the major categories.
Why “intelligent”? - For each file an explanation is provided in the so-called ‘Knowledge Box’. You can see what the selected file is about… And you can see other, related topics. You can click on a related topic to see more files.

Searching is easy in MOSAICA. Just start typing a query… And a list of all similar topics will pop up. Just select the desired topic, and … all corresponding files are displayed. You can narrow search results by using filters. You can filter search results by type, recommended use, or rating. You can even invoke ‘Precision Search’, in order to specify precise search criteria… and pinpoint the targeted results with 100% accuracy.

MOSAICA is even more… MOSAICA allows you to use all that abundance of cultural heritage resources to tell your own stories. We introduce the Virtual Expedition: a story telling tool that allows you to create multimedia presentations with few clicks. Watch Virtual Expeditions created by users from all around the world.
