Mosaica and cultural heritage |
MOSAICA is all about creating a colourful and diversified mosaic of cultures, traditions, and legacies that will grow and evolve, enabling varied actors to use technological means to express their national, ethnic and religious identity, values, and legacy.
This is in line with the European resolution on Cultural Diversity - Brixen/Bressanone, 18th October 2002 "We fully concur with the recognition as expressed in the Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity adopted by the General Conference of UNESCO on 2nd November 2001, and the Declaration on Cultural Diversity adopted by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on 7th December 2000 that cultural diversity is as necessary for humankind as biodiversity is for nature, and that policies to promote and protect cultural diversity thus are an integral part of sustainable development; that cultural goods and services which, as vectors of identity, values and meaning, must not be treated as mere commodities or consumer goods, and that cultural and audiovisual policies, which promote and respect cultural diversity, are a necessary complement to trade policies."
MOSAICA addresses the presentation and discovery of just about any cultural heritage, and that will allow multiple groups of interest to develop innovative and creative user experience. A core assumption of the project is that the user experience offered by MOSAICA should be enjoyable for youngsters more interested by “fun” and videogames than by museums. See more
Combating racism and xenophobia is an ongoing task. Many people believe that the racism problem is solved or are unaware of its existence or, even worse, know it exists but don't care. Much of the problem is not overt malevolence, but ignorance, insensitivity and indifference. The challenge is to make individuals aware of racism without preaching or triggering guilt, which simply closes minds and increases resistance. See more
Anti-semitism being one of the most known expression of racism and cultural, religious intolerance, MOSAICA will develop its proof of concept through the set up of a Web-based portal dedicated to the Jewish Cultural Heritage in Europe.
